Morgan's review- Shaun of the Dead

why hellooo darlings! this is definitely a little late but whatev.. last week, my friend Aron & I rented Shaun of the Dead, directed by Edgar Wright.. since this is an independent film & we hadn't heard of Wright before, we didn't really know what to expect, plus IMDb doesn't really mention his specialities or anything... buttt he & the star of the movie, Simon Pegg, must be geniuses because this film is HILARIOUS (Pegg & Wright co-wrote the movie).. basically, Shaun is a nice guy, but he lacks ambition & responsibility.. all he wants to do is chill with his deadbeat roomies Ed & Pete at their favorite bar, the Winchester, which drives his girlfriend Liz nuts.. Liz breaks up with him about the same time that zombies start infecting London.. only then does Shaun realize how much Liz means to him, & now he has to try to save himself, Liz, Ed, his mom, a couple of Liz's friends, & his relationship with Liz... I'd say the genre of the film is comedy with just enough romance to make it almost slightly chick-flickish but in a good way... and thankfully, you didn't have to see Dawn of the Dead to understand Shaun of the Dead (it's not like Star Wars and Spaceballs, just in case you were wondering because I had worried about it).. I'd say strengths of the movie would be pretty much everything, but particularly the humor.. without the comic relief, the movie would be kind of freaky.. like just when you're about to get freaked out, something hysterical happens.. i can't really think of any weaknesses.. it IS a bit gory though, hence the R rating.. oh and a bit of sailor-like cussing.. wellll let me know if yall have any questions! :) rent it, it's fab
