Badlands Picture Review

In the picture of Holly’s dollhouse burning, it is as if her childhood itself is going up into flames. Because of her relationship with Kit and her involvement in the murders, Holly’s naivety causes her to follow along with Kit who is immature himself. This shows that she was still a young girl who got caught up in a very adult world. To go along with this, the picture of Holly putting on makeup shows her innocence and lack of childhood. Because she grew up so fast with Kit, she didn’t experience child-like things such as putting on makeup for the first time. This also coincides with the death of Holly’s mother who wouldn’t be able to show her how to do feminine things like makeup.
